  • How to get ready for Skibörse: 10 tips for a smooth shopping experience

Heading to one of our Skibörse events is an exciting way to gear up for your ski, snowboard or touring season without breaking the bank. To make sure you leave with exactly what you need, a little prep goes a long way. Here are ten simple tips to ensure your Skibörse experience is a full success. 1. Set a budget before you go It’s easy to get caught up in all the great deals, but setting a budget before you go will help you choose your perfect skis or board. Maybe you go for a cheaper second-hand ski and still have budget for new merino base layers, a pair of warm gloves or any other thing you need. 2. Visit outside of rush hours Avoid the crowd by visiting during off-peak times. This way, you’ll have more time to browse, try on gear, and make thoughtful decisions without feeling rushed. Plus: Our staff will have more time to give you advice. However, if you are looking for the maximum selection, you should visit the Skibörse on the (usually busy) first day. 3. Chat with our staff for expert advice Don’t hesitate to ask our staff for advice: They will recommend the best gear for your level, or help you make sure the skis, boots, or apparel you’re considering are the right fit for your needs. Again, it's best to visit outside rush hours. 4. Bring a friend for a second opinion A trusted friend can be a lifesaver when deciding on the perfect fit or style. Plus, they’ll help you stay objective while navigating all the tempting deals. And: the more the merrier. 5. Looking for goggles? Bring your helmet! Goggles need to fit snugly with your helmet, so don’t forget to bring it along! A proper fit ensures no gaps for wind or snow, giving you maximum comfort on the slopes. Try the goggles on with your helmet to make sure everything aligns perfectly. 6. Shopping for apparel? Bring a piece to match! Want your new jacket or ski pants to pair well with what you already own? Bring along an existing item for easy color and fit comparison. It’ll save you from mismatches and ensure a coordinated, stylish look on the slopes. 7. Buying skis? Know your boot size! Bindings need to be adjusted to fit your boots, so make sure you know your boot size (in mm) or bring your boots along. This guarantees that your new skis will be set up for safety and performance right from the start. 8. Wear easy-to-slip-in-and-out clothing Since you’ll likely be trying on different jackets, pants and boots, wear something comfortable and easy to slip in and out of, like leggings or a light shirt. This will speed up the process and make trying things on hassle-free. 9. Bring a backpack or large bag You might end up buying more than you anticipated! ;-) Bringing a backpack or large tote will help you easily carry around the items you’re purchasing. 10. Cash or card? Our Skibörse events accept both cash and card payments. If you’re planning on using a card, ensure your spending limit is high enough to cover the gear you’re eyeing. With these tips, you're now equipped to navigate the Skibörse like a pro! Happy shopping and good luck finding exactly what you wish for!

  • 8 surprising advantages of buying second-hand skiing or snowboarding equipment

Winter sports, whether it's skiing, snowboarding, or ski touring, is an adventure like no other. But gearing up for this fun can quickly drain your wallet. That’s where second-hand gear comes in - an overlooked treasure with unexpected advantages. Discover the following benefits that might just make second-hand skis, snowboards, touring skis, and boots your new go-to. 1. Save big, ski and board more Yes, skiing and snowboarding can be quite pricey -but your gear doesn’t have to be. Second-hand equipment comes at a fraction of the cost of new ones, leaving you with more money for lift tickets, good food and après-ski treats. After all, less money on gear means more fun on the slopes—that's what it's all about. 2. Sustainable winter sport – reduce, reuse Opting for second-hand skis, snowboards and boots helps reduce waste and cuts down on the carbon footprint of manufacturing new gear. You can try out different types and style - and you will be ready for all kinds of conditions. 6. You can relax and enjoy your time on the mountain without constantly worrying about your shiny, new equipment being stolen. Our concludion: second-hand, but first-class fun From saving money to supporting sustainability, second-hand skis and snowboards offer more than meets the eye. • The art of layering - or how to dress for skiing, snowboarding, ski touring and winter hiking

When you're heading out for an active winter day, the right clothing is key to staying warm, dry, and comfortable—whether you're hitting the slopes, exploring the backcountry on a ski tour or trekking through snowy trails. The secret? Mastering the art of layering. Layering is the perfect strategy for balancing warmth with breathability - and it’s budget-friendly too. With just a few essential pieces (get one of each layer, maybe a couple of base and mid-layers), you can mix and match to suit any condition. The game plan: layer up like a pro 1. Base layer: the foundation for comfort Your base layer is the foundation of your outfit, responsible for managing moisture. Choose a fabric like merino wool or a high-performance synthetic that wicks sweat away from your skin. This helps keep you dry and prevents that uncomfortable, clammy feeling. Remember, cotton is a no-go—it traps moisture and will leave you feeling cold. 2. Mid layer: your insulating hero Next comes the mid layer, which provides crucial insulation. It traps your body heat while letting moisture escape, keeping you warm without overheating. A fleece jacket or an insulated synthetic down layer works wonders here. For high-energy activities like ski touring, go for a lightweight fleece. For colder, less active days on the slopes, a thicker option is your best bet. 3. Outer layer: your shield against the elements The outer layer is all about protection. Choose a jacket and pants that are waterproof and windproof to shield yourself from snow, wind, and rain. Look for materials like Gore-Tex that offer breathability while keeping out the elements. If you're ski touring, a shell jacket with ventilation zippers is a great choice to help regulate your temperature during intense climbs. Of course, you can also choose warm jackets for maximum comfort on cold days on the slope or in the city. Accessories: the finishing touches Accessories can make or break your comfort level, so don’t skip them. A good pair of waterproof gloves or mittens, a warm hat, and a neck gaiter or balaclava keep your extremities protected from the cold. For skiing and snowboarding, goggles are a must to protect your eyes from snow and glare. If you’re winter hiking, a good pair of sunglasses might do the trick. And of course, helmets are highly recommended for safety on the slopes and in the backcountry. Boots: finding the perfect fit The right boots can make all the difference in skiing, ski touring and snowboarding. Make sure they fit well, provide adequate support, and offer good insulation. If you need help finding the perfect pair, our experienced staff can guide you to the best options for your feet and activity level. Note: At some Skibörse events, we also offer shoes for trailrunning, hiking and mountaineering. However, the number is quite limited. Ready, Set, Go! By dressing in layers and choosing the right materials, you'll be set for a full day of winter fun without letting the cold hold you back. Gear up right, and every adventure can be your best one yet! P.S.: Need advice? Come to the Skibörse events, we will help you to find your perfect outfit!
